Castlethorpe Historical Society

Castlethorpe Historical Society was formed at the end of 2014 and aims to make local history interesting and exciting for everyone — not just history buffs.

The society holds talks by guest speakers every two months, as well as organising trips to centres of local historical importance and some “hands on” historical research projects. One of these projects was surveying the South Street paddock under the supervision of archaeologist Mark Roberts and we discovered what appears to be the remains of a late medieval fishpond and a well-used cart track.

On alternate months the society hosts extremely popular Film Nights, showing movies which have recently been in cinemas on the big screen in the Village Hall. Admission to these is £5, or £2 to members.

You can find details of the society’s programme of talks on the Village Diary page of this website. Membership is just £10 a year, which gives you free admittance to all the talks and a reduced admission price of £2 to the Film Nights.
