Street lights

If you notice that a street light is not working properly – be it off completely, flickering or even on permanently – you can call the Environmental Services department between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday on 01908 252838. In the case of an emergency, an out of hours service is provided on 01908 226699.

If you are reporting a faulty street light, please help them to locate its position by providing the complete reference, painted in white, on the column. It’s normally a number and a code giving the street e.g. ‘NS’ for North Street. Otherwise, please make sure you have the location such as the address.

You can also report the fault online at Streetlights

The street lighting department is also responsible for maintaining street nameplates.

Bus Services

If you want to report a failure of a bus service, you can contact Stuart Simmonds by letter at:

Stuart Simmonds
Passenger Transport Officer (Operations)
Milton Keynes Council Mouchel Business Services Ltd
Saxon Court Offices
502 Avebury Boulevard
Central Milton Keynes
MK9 3HS

or by
Telephone: 01908 252011

or
Email: Stuart Simmonds

Stuart keeps a record of service failures and is responsible for holding the bus operator, Arriva, to task for failures. If the service is one supported by subsidy, as many of the rural services are, he can impose service penalties on the operator.

Healthcare

Hanslope Surgery Telephone 510230
Out of Hours Service 6.30pm-8.00am Mon-Fri, weekends and bank holidays – any time (24 hours); telephone 03336 664664.

Please note: These services are ONLY for patients whose condition cannot safely wait until the next working day and who need advice or treatment from a doctor or nurse.

You will be contacting Nenedoc’s Out of Hours service. You will talk to a locally-based and qualified call handler who will ask some questions about the health problem or minor injury you want help with.

You may either:

  • be given healthcare advice over the phone by a professional nurse or doctor on how you can self-treat your condition. If necessary you will be given a prescription or other medication advice as appropriate
  • be given a time to drop into one of our centres across the county that provide cover through the night and at weekends
  • have a home visit arranged from one of our locally based doctors or nurses if you are medically unable to travel
  • be advised to attend the A&E department (Casualty) of a local hospital or in extreme cases ring 999
  • be reassured that the problem can be left for your own GP to deal with in normal hours

The nearest out of hours service is at the A&E Department, Northampton General Hospital, Cliftonville Road. Please note that out of hours doctors service is not available at Milton Keynes Hospital because the Hanslope Surgery is part of a practice registered with Northants.

NHS Direct Telephone 0845 46 47 Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
