MK50 – The People’s Story: FREE Film-making training

Are you a budding film maker? Are you up for a new challenge? Are you interested in learning new skills? Living Archive is offering FREE film-making training for up to 10 people, aged 18 upwards.
The training is a part of a major new project, MK50 – The People’s Story celebrating Milton Keynes’ 50th birthday. You will help record and film the public’s memories and stories from people who have lived or worked in or around Milton Keynes over the last 50 years.

You will receive training in interview techniques, camera operation, editing and documentary film, providing a grounding to interview people about their stories of Milton Keynes. By the end of the project you will have interviewed, shot, edited and delivered short, 2-4 minute documentary films, with the support of a professional film maker.

The training will take place from October through to December/January, with two sessions per week (one week evening and one weekend morning/afternoon) in addition to developing work outside of classes. The training will be led by a professional film-maker experienced in running workshops for beginners to amateur film-makers.

Through this proiect you will contribute to the creation of 50 films which will form part of a major, multi-media exhibition in 2018 uncovering the hidden histories and mapping the peoples’ story of Milton Keynes.

The training will take place at Milton Keynes Museum (Wolverton) and on location across Milton Keynes.

How to apply:

You do not need any previous film making experience but do need to be able to commit to two sessions (3 hours) per week and also have competent IT skills. You also need to be comfortable with interviewing members of the public and will receive training on how to interview on camera.
