Community First Responder's annual report

As the Castlethorpe & Hanslope CFR scheme reaches the end of its third year of operation, I thought now might be a good time to share a couple of numbers with you, so you can see what your support has provided:

282 calls attended since January 2014 to November 2016
2176 volunteer hours given January 2014 to November 2016

I also wanted to mention a couple of highlights since the last update. I have received a number of generous donations toward the running of our local scheme, including £100 from Castlethorpe Parish Council, £1,000 from Hanslope Parish council, and £350 from a collection held by Lesley and Graham from Bullington End Road during their joint birthday party. Thank you all for your support.

Without everyone’s generosity, I would not be able to keep Gloria on the road or fund the purchase of consumable items that need to paid for. As I have said before, everything we do is funded by your donations and we receive no central government funding. Unfortunately, I have seen a number of schemes in the Bucks area have to borrow money from other schemes because they don’t have the support that we are lucky to enjoy.

I have mentioned that change was coming, and there have been a couple of significant changes since my last update.

SCAS Charity – South Central Ambulance have bundled all their separate charities into one. The new charity is known as SCA-Charity with a new charity number and donation methods. If you were one of the people that donated through the League of Friends, please can utilise the SCA-Charity instead. They can be found online at http://sca-charity.org.uk/ You will also find a specific page for our Area (Milton Keynes North & Villages) a Castlethorpe & Hanslope scheme page will be coming soon.

We also have a new volunteer from within Castlethorpe! The recruitment process is in full flow, and hopefully they will be training early in the New Year. There is still plenty of room for more volunteers though, so feel free to come on board. Details can be found at the SCA-Charity website or you can contact me directly by email at Richard.Bradley@SCA-Charity.org.uk

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, and I look forward to an excellent 2017.
