Keeping fit

Circuit training on Mondays

For anyone who wants to get fit and lose weight, there is Circuit Training with Angela Bevan of Bevan Fitness from 6-7 pm every Monday in the Village Hall at just £5 a session. No need to book, just come along and join in. More information on www.bevanfitness.co.uk or phone 07899 968630.

Get fit to music on Wednesdays

Zumba is a high energy dance-based fitness class carried out to the infectious rhythms of Latin and international music. And Castlethorpe’s very own Nicky Birchall is holding Zumba sessions in the Village Hall at 6.15pm each Wednesday. The cost is just £5 a session.

There’s no need to book — just turn up … and remember to bring water!

Pilates on Fridays

Anna O Fitness holds weekly Pilates classes in the Village Hall from 3.30-4.30 pm on Fridays. For more details contact Anna on 07767 454497 or email annaofitness@gmail.com. There’s more information on Anna’s website www.annaofitness.com.

Children’s dance classes

Dance classes for children in freestyle dance, street dance and cheerleading are held every Friday in the Village Hall (term time only).
5-5.30pm mini sapphires (ages 3-6)
5.30 -6pm junior sapphires (6+)

Castlethorpe Historical Society’s June Film Night in the Village Hall on Thursday 20 June will be showing Stan & Ollie, the untold story of the world’s greatest comedy act, Laurel and Hardy, starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly. The film starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 or £2 if you are a Historical Society member.

July 7: Castlethorpe School Fete

A date for your diary! Castlethorpe’s wonderful school fete will be held on Sunday 7th July at Castlethorpe School, 12 – 3pm.

There will be a BBQ, Pimms/beer stall, family games (such as a tombola, splat the rat and hook a duck), face painting, tattoos and more. Stop for cake and a cuppa in our cafe or entertain the kids at our craft stall. Plus, you will have the chance to win BIG in the raffle, prizes include tickets for the MK Dons, Pirate Golf and sledging at the Snozone to name a few, tickets available from the village shop or at the fete on the day.

Of course, the fete would not be complete without our own answer to Strictly; the school children performing country and maypole dancing. Please do pop along and support your local school, entry is free for children and just 50p for adults.

August 15: Film Night

Castlethorpe Historical Society’s August Film Night in the Village Hall on Thursday 15 August will be showing Mike Leigh’s acclaimed drama Peterloo, starring Maxine Peake and Rory Kinnear, recounting how cavalry charged a peaceful crowd of demonstrators in Manchester, leaving 15 dead and almost 700 injured. Admission is £5 or £2 if you are a Historical Society member

October 17: Film Night

Castlethorpe Historical Society’s October Film Night in the Village Hall on Thursday 17 October will be showing The Wife (15), an acclaimed drama starring Glenn Close as a wife who confronts some uncomfortable, deeply suppressed truths. and Jonathan Pryce as her husband. The film starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 or £2 if you are a Historical Society member.

The final Film Night this year is on Thursday 19 December, with Bohemian Rhapsody (12A), the story of the legendary rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid in 1985.
